Recent data from the Office of National Statistics showed that 10% of businesses across the UK have skill gaps, with 1 million job vacancies available across the nation.

Research by leading office suppliers Furniture At Work has revealed which jobs are most in demand for 2024 by analysing search data and job listings on Indeed, Totaljobs, and Reed.

The data found that teachers will be the most in-demand job this year, with delivery drivers and project managers also being highly sought-after by employers.

The teacher shortage in the UK is due to many newly qualified teachers considering moving abroad for work due to citing better pay and working conditions.

Virtual assistant jobs are harder to come by, with only 494 job postings available to the 14,800 users searching for them. As a fully remote job role, it’s no surprise that demand outweighs the supply as over 9 in 10 Bris (96%) Brits would prefer to work either remotely or hybrid.

Of the top ten most searched-for jobs, jobseekers in London are more likely to find their desired job with over 13,000 listings including 5,000 jobs available for teachers specifically. Edinburgh has the lowest number of vacancies (278) available in any major UK city with the most demand (105 listings) for delivery drivers.
