Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how RecConnect ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you visit our website or get in touch with us. We are committed to handling your information responsibly and in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
RecConnect is a professional community for the UK recruitment industry. For the purposes of data protection law, RecConnect is the data controller for the information described in this policy. You can contact us using the details in the "How to contact us" section below.
The information we collect
We only collect the data we need to run the website and respond to you. This falls into two categories:
Information you give us. If you contact us, for example by email, WhatsApp, or any enquiry form on this site, we receive the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number, company name, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the site we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. This may include your device and browser type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, approximate location (derived from your IP address), and similar usage data. Google Analytics sets cookies to do this. We do not use any other advertising, marketing, or tracking cookies.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. The only cookies this website sets are those used by Google Analytics to measure and improve site performance. We do not use cookies for advertising or to build marketing profiles. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing Google's official browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- respond to your enquiries and provide the information or services you ask for;
- operate, maintain, and improve the website and the experience of our visitors;
- understand which content and pages are most useful to our community;
- keep the website secure and prevent misuse; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
Our legal basis
Where you contact us, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to you and managing our community. Where we use analytics cookies, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the controls described above. Where we are required to keep records, we rely on compliance with a legal obligation.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the website, and only to the extent necessary. This currently includes Google (Google Analytics) for website measurement and our hosting provider for delivering the site. These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you contact us again. Analytics data is retained in line with Google Analytics' standard retention settings. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances;
- object to or restrict how we use your data;
- request a copy of your data in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled your data.
External links
Our website links to third-party services such as Stripe, Eventbrite, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, and Amazon. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before using them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
